A discussion about the metrics being used to measure economic recovery.

Honolulu Civil Beat is hosting a three-part event series, supported in part by a grant from the Hawaii Community Foundation, on the impact COVID-19 has had on the businesses, industries and workers powering Hawaii’s economy.

This discussion will be about what data — in metrics that we are familiar with and other creative ones — can tell us about how COVID-19 has impacted Hawaii’s economy thus far and will continue to impact it in the future. Learn which areas of the economy have taken the hardest hit and the role that data can play in recovery.

Moderator:

Yoohyun Jung, Data Reporter, Civil Beat

Panelists:

Kendrick Leong, Research Specialist, Hawaii Data Collaborative

Carl Bonham, Executive Director and Professor of Economics, UHERO

Peter Fuleky, Research Economist and Associate Professor of Economics, UHERO

This online conversation will be guided in large part by questions from attendees, and we encourage you to submit your questions in advance.

This session will be recorded and sent to everyone who registers, including those who cannot make it live.
