Civil Beat Community Work Day at Kauluakalana
Saturday, July 13 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm HST
You’re invited to a Civil Beat community work day hosted by Kauluakalana on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Volunteer alongside Civil Beat editors, reporters, and staff as we spend the day restoring and revitalizing the historic Ulupō heiau in Kailua, Oʻahu. All ages are welcome as there will be a variety of ways to volunteer your time. You will have the option to participate in wet tasks such as weeding loʻi kalo or dry tasks like weeding māla or mulching. Lunch will be provided by Kauluakalana for all volunteers.
Address: 1200 Kailua Road, Kailua HI 96734. We will meet behind/below the Windward YMCA at the base of the historic Ulupō heiau. Parking is available at the YMCA parking lot with overflow parking available at the DayBreak Church.
Accessibility: The top of Ulupō Heiau is easily accessible, however, to get to the base of the heiau requires walking down a steep and bumpy path.
Liability Waiver: We require everyone to complete a liability waiver prior to participating.
