Why Hawai‘i is the Rainbow Capitol of the World

Join ARCS Honolulu Chapter for a presentation at 5 p.m. HST, Thursday, June 16 by special guest Dr. Steven Businger, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa professor of atmospheric sciences, ARCS Scholar advisor and co-creator of the RainbowChase phone app.

Dr. Businger will share the physics behind the fascinating phenomenon of rainbows (including double rainbows, white rainbows and moonbows).

A certified consulting meterologist, Businger has been UH faculty member since 1993. He leads the Storm Evolution and Energetics Research Group and received the 2011 Chanellor’s Citation for Meritorious Teaching. He is advisor to 2022 ARCS Scholar T.J. Corrigan.
