Join the Civil Beat Book Club for a group book discussion with author Jim Dooley, hosted by Civil Beat reporter Nick Grube.

This year we’re reading books written by local authors and inviting them to participate in our group discussion. The list is inspired by Civil Beat’s coverage and includes fiction, nonfiction and occasional special events.

Our first book of 2021 is “Sunny Skies, Shady Character: Cops, Killers and Corruption in the Aloha State,” by Jim Dooley.

The group discussion will take place on Wednesday, March 31 at 5 p.m. HST.

Civil Beat’s D.C. reporter Nick Grube, who has had quite a bit of experience covering corruption since first reporting about the Kealohas and the stolen mailbox incident, will be guiding our discussion with author Jim Dooley.

The Civil Beat book club is open to the public and members can join at any time. The discussion will be held online in a Zoom meeting and we encourage attendees to participate in the discussion.

The Civil Beat Book Club is a partnership with local book store, da Shop. Book club members receive 10% off the monthly book club selections when purchasing online with code “CB10” or in the Kaimuki shop. Visit their site for all the upcoming and past book club selections.

By registering for this event, you’ll receive a subscription to Civil Beat’s free e-newsletter, the Morning Beat. And don’t worry, we hate spam too! You can unsubscribe any time by clicking the link at the bottom of each email.
