How to use camera controls and digital editing as an artistic form of expression.
Learn the fundamentals of using your camera while exploring editing and post processing as an expressive art form. Color, light, focus, and framing influence the way we perceive images, lending emotional, personal, and cultural meaning to our work. In this class students learn how to use their camera settings and editing software as tools for artistic expression.
Weekly slideshows, demonstrations, and discussions inform students about historical and current artistic trends, as well as build upon a foundation of technical and aesthetic skills. Students learn how to make and edit images, take part in group discussions, and participate in weekly exercises.
This 8 week class is appropriate for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Students may use their cell phone cameras. Access to a computer with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop is a requirement. Students may also use Adobe Bridge and Camera Raw in place of Lightroom.
Class takes place via Zoom software and a link is sent to participants in advance of the first session.
Sharon Heitzenroder is a fine artist, activist, and educator. She has traveled and worked internationally as a visiting artist and artist in residence at the: Kala Art Institute in California, Academie Beeldende Kunsten and Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, the Nagasawa Art Park in Japan, and The Nature of Cities Project in Hawaii. With an expertise in fine art, she has taught for the Academy of Art University San Francisco, Kala Art Institute, and University of California Santa Cruz, and founded IncuArts Gallery. Her work uses light, color, space, and form as transcendental modes of speech.
