Professor Tom Browder, Dept of Physics, UH Manoa, on “Hunting New Physics at the Belle II Experiment.”

Quarks are fundamental particles that make up the proton and the neutron. But what are ‘Beauty’ Quarks? And how are they related to the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe?

I will explain what these terms mean and how they are related to the core research program of the Belle II particle physics experiments at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider in Tsukuba, Japan, which started taking data in 2019.

Tom Browder is a professor of physics at the Unversity of Hawai’i at Manoa. He received his BS in physics at the University of Chicago in 1982 and his PhD at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1998.

From 2004-2012 he was foreign co-spokesperson of the Belle experiment. From 2013 -2019 he was spokesperson for Belle II, a 1000-person international collaboration from 26 countries/regimes.
