Impact ART: Vox with Aria Villafranca
December 5, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm HST
Welcome to a reality completely divorced from our own, a work of fiction used to escape the pressures of the world you inhabit.
Vox: Creating a World Without Humanity is a body of work from Oahu-born comic artist and illustrator Aria Villafranca. This show offers the viewer an experiment, allowing for the familiar to become unfamiliar, and the unfamiliar to become familiar. An alien world has been created for the viewer to enter, and I invite the viewer to fully examine, inhabit, and interact with this world.
The event will feature a no-host bar by The Arts at Mark’s Garage, and there will be heavy pupu by Cafe Jai.
About the Artist:
Aria Villafranca was born and raised on O’ahu, and received her BFA from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa with a concentration in Drawing and Painting. She is currently working towards an MFA in Sequential Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is an avid fan of creating, consuming, and thinking about science-fiction and fantasy media.
About Impact Hub:
The ImpactART program supports Hawaii’s artists by creating an equal exchange of artwork for studio and exhibition space. Co-created by Impact Hub Honolulu and Honolulu Biennial Foundation in 2017 to address the need for art studios and the proper valuation of artists’ work. Each of these artists have previously contributed unique art to the Impact Hub location as part of their ImpactART trade.
