[UNITY] February Game Jam & Hackathon
February 9, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm HST
This is our SECOND scheduled game jam & hackathon. Put your developer skills to the test and build something awesome in a team focused, collaborative environment.
For 2020, this group has some really awesome goals, and the first goal to tackle is building up a talent force here in Hawaii!
**UNITY & GAMEDEVHQ SPONSORED FOOD**
We all love free food, right? That’s why Unity and I are happy to provide catering the day of!
** Special thanks to Keahi & Purple Mai’a for hosting and supporting the developments of this group!**
So how can you prepare for this event?
Members of this group – if you’ve attended a meetup, you have received free unity course training from me. If you haven’t started them yet, now’s the time.
To make the learning experience more engaging and to give you the best edge in learning your new skills, you’ll be provided access to the course library available on GameDevHQ.com
On GameDevHQ you’ll find a Game Developer Certification Track, which teaches you how to build your first 2D, 2.5D, and 3D video games using Unity & C#. You’ll gain access to the most up to date version of the C# Survival Guide, which is undoubtedly the best course to help you learn how to become a self-taught software engineer. ** Keep Reading to Get Access to Your Courses!! **
In preparation for this event, we’re asking that you COMPLETE the 2D course on GameDevHQ. In this course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of C#, Unity, and build a space shooter action game. The skills learned in this on-demand, at your own pace course will allow you to be successful in our Game Jams & Hackathons.
So, how does a Game Jam / Hackathon work?
The day of the event, we’ll announce a theme. Dependent on turnout, we’ll split up into teams, and have a full day to prototype something based on our interpretation of the theme.
Through passion, collaboration, and persistence, events like these have spawned incredible innovations within the tech sector. Games like Super Hot, Goat Simulator, and Super Meat Boy, which have all generated over 7 figures in revenue, started off at events like this!
How to get your courses?
Simple. Just RSVP to this event and reach out if you do not have the courses, and i’ll provide redemption instructions! You have 2 weeks to complete a 5-7 hour course on how to make a game with Unity! I’m committed to helping you succeed as a developer, if you can commit to your RSVP and put in the effort to learn.
GameDevHQ and my partnership with Unity was designed to take individuals with zero experience in the world of programming and help them discover that “Eureka!” moment where things begin to click.
We have a Hawaii Game Developer Discord channel where you can collaborate, discuss, and ask for help at any given time where i’m happy to answer any questions.
With GameDevHQ, you’ll have access to our global community where you can receive help 24/7 in our programming channel.
