After over a decade of hiatus, the Bamboo Ridge Writers’ Institute is back for a fifth rendition but this time hosted virtually on Saturday and Sunday, October 24-25. Event programming includes panel discussions on topics ranging from publishing in Hawaii, writing while working full-time, and the future of the literary community after COVID. Plus, a special preview reading of our upcoming anthology Bamboo Ridge Journal of Hawaii Literature and Art Issue #118! The panelists include industry experts and award-winning authors and poets.

Participants can also register for masterclass sessions in poetry, novel, and short story writing for an additional fee. These special workshops cost $30.00 each session and include an anonymous first-page critique. There are limited reserved spots available. Masterclass leaders include the Bamboo Ridge renshi poets (Ann Inoshita, Juliet S, Kono, Christy Passion, and Jean Y. Toyama) Brenda Kwon, Susan M. Schultz, Donald Carreira Ching, and Lois-Ann Yamanaka.

General tickets cost $20.00 and are available at the Bamboo Ridge website. Bamboo Ridge Press is pleased to offer discounts to high school and college students. Students will need to email us at read@bambooridge.org for the discount code.
