STEMplus: ʻĀina-Informatics: Citizen Science and Genomics in your Classroom
November 19, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm HST
Learn about the newly-formed ʻĀina-Informatics Network (AIN), an initiative to bring place-based genome science curriculum into local intermediate and high school classrooms. Focusing on the unique biodiversity of Hawai‘i, we utilize a citizen science framework to connect schools and classrooms across districts via genetics/genomics labs and lessons. At this free teacher PD, we will demo our polymerase chain reaction (PCR) lab which will allow you to test whether the papaya tree in your backyard is GMO or not. All you need to bring is a leaf!
STEMplus Citizen Science
